Botox injections for jaw pain are being prescribed more and more. But wouldn’t a long term solution be better. Botox injections are given to relax jaw muscles. Dentists can administer them. Women suffering with tight jaws, headaches , migraines and dysfunctional jaws will often resort to botox injections. One lady came to me saying that she loved the botox injections but was told she could no longer have them. She had been suffering with jaw pain and clenching for years but now that she was pregnant, could no longer have them. Why is that? Well as the name suggests, botox injections are toxic. Bo- tox. Why would someone want to put a toxic substance into their body and then in a few weeks when it wears off, go and spend $100’s more just to repeat the cycle? I suppose if a woman in severe pain and with a dysfunctional jaw could not go to work, then a quick fix may seem very attractive. For someone who didn’t know about the therapy that I specialise in, botox injections would be the only option. I have worked with many women , and men, over the last 20 years, to restore normal, pain free jaw movement. I combine Physiotherapy and Craniosacral therapy to help jaw function be restored to normal.
Many people suffer from teeth grinding at night. Dentists make night guards constantly, for clients who suffer from teeth grinding. My treatment aims to resolve the underlying issues in the neck and jaw, to stop teeth grinding. I work to relieve the stress in the jaw, and align the jaw to restore normal function. If you know anyone who is complaining about jaw tightness, unexplained headaches, clicking jaw, refer them to me. I will work to relieve the years of tension that has built up, causing the problems.
