Over the last 2 decades I have treated hundreds of women and a few men with pelvic floor issues. Its not a topic anyone likes to talk about. Let alone go and get help for. Many clients don’t even realise they have a pelvic health problem. In my first consultation, I will ask a lot about their sleep patterns. This leads to the question of , “How many times do you get up to go to the toilet?” Many people think it’s quite normal to get up once, twice or three times in the night. A surprising number of people get up more than that! My clients don’t realise that there is actually no reason to get up at all. In Australia approximately 3.3 million women suffer from pelvic floor problems and urinary continence. The most common age group is the 30 to 55 year olds. Doctors will recommend incontinence pads, pelvic floor exercises and or surgery. I work with my clients to align their pelvis and align their pelvic floor. Just like other muscles in the body, if they are compromised in their position, they will appear weak and inefficient. Often the problem is they are too tight, but the bones they are attaching to are out of alignment. This can be through general wear and tear and stress in our life, child birth or sport. Most people’s pelvis is out of alignment but we forget that this follows the muscles will be also out of alignment. If you or anyone you know is finding they are going to toilet too frequently their work day is being compromised by the need for the bathroom, send them to me. If you know anyone with problems with their pelvic floor and urinary incontinence, send them to me.
Many years ago I was treating a grandma in her 60’s. I aligned her pelvis to help alleviate her lower back pain. She came back after the 1st session saying , ” I don’t know what you did , but I no longer need to get up 3 times a night for the bathroom!”
