That is the question. To botox or not to botox? For jaw tension, dentists recommend an injection of botox. And it works. For short time, anyway. But the tension in the jaw is still there. And the jaw is still out of alignment. Botox can’t fix that. So after 3 – 6 weeks you will need to return the dentist for another botox injection. As I’ve mention in my previous Facebook post, botox, stands for botulinum toxin. Which means it’s toxic to us, more specifically to our nervous system. Personally I like to keep my toxic substances to a minimum these days!I would not recommend to anyone injecting themselves with toxin, botulinum toxin or any other.
My first job was in Canada, Alberta, and nearby the army would test mustard gas. I believe that is also toxic for us. Yet women are prepared to inject botulinum toxin into their wrinkles and sometimes into their jaw.
Goes to show how debilitating jaw disfunction and pain can be! I agree. Not being able to chew or eat, or sleep, or open your mouth, or close your mouth, or be headache free would drive most of us crazy!
Jaw disfunction, or TMD, affects women more than men. I treat many more women than men in my practice. In my work I help realign the jaw, the neck and the bones in the skull. This gets to the cause of the problem and breaks the tension cycle. Please spread the word to any women you know that suffer from teeth grinding, headaches, restless sleep and anxiety. I want to help people get off the medication and the botox injections and take control of their bodies and minds again.
Men too, with sleep apnea or snoring problems may grind their teeth to try and keep their airways open. This is the body’s in built mechanism for survival. The treatment I do with the head, neck and jaw helps the body breathe better at night. This leads to better quality sleep and fewer morning headaches.
