Craniosacral Therapy – not just for the head.
It occurred to me this morning, talking to my friend, that people think Craniosacral therapy is just for the head. We were discussing shoulder pain and arthritis. Yes, I have successfully treated many clients with painful shoulders. It’s vitally important to treat their neck, as that’s where all the nerves that supply the shoulder are coming from. In other words, shoulder pain comes from an unhappy neck. It starts in the neck and left untreated moves the dysfunction into the shoulder.
Craniosacral Therapy treats the whole body.
Imagine a balloon filled with water. Imagine lightly pressing one side of the balloon. What happens when you feel the opposite side of the balloon? Do you feel the water shift? Our bodies are 80% water. So a Craniosacral Therapist, with plenty of practise and skill can diagnose and treat any restriction, anywhere in the body. The advantage is, if someone doesn’t like a part of the body being touched, the therapist can treat it from another part of the body. A therapist can feel all the way up the spine from the feet, feeling for restrictions along the way.
The pain may be due to a restriction somewhere else in the body.
Shoulder pain may be coming from the hipbone. The muscle attaching the pelvis to the shoulder blade frequently causes dysfunction in the shoulder, leading to shoulder pain.
